Common problems with Lax Jr Rotary Merchandiser by Noel Industries
It was very hard to track down any support for the game, as the last parts for a Lax Rotary machine were sold by Noel Industries in Ozark Florida more than four years ago. Well, they still have some nearly-indestructible plexiglass panels, but those usually aren’t the issue.
Okay, here’s what to check for with a Lax Junior:
- 120V Supply good? If not check if your power supply cable is intact and plugged firmly into a recepticle, replacement powercords are available at any store selling standard computer power supply cables.
- Power Supply Outputs? You should have 12v and 5v lines coming out of your power supply, if your 5v supply is good, then the lax jr logic pcb will illuminate. If not, your board is fried and you’re nearly out of luck, as there’s no real technical support offered on it.
- If your 5v led is dead, then you might wanna meter out and see if your powersupply is solid. Also, check the fuse on the logic pcb. It’s probably blown. If your lax junior is running intermittently, chances are good that your power supply box is old and dying and needs replacement.
- Okay, so you have 5v and some sort of secondary function? Check 120V to prize arm motor, table top motor, and prize despense motor, visually check for 8 segment led panel and fluorescent illumination.
- If you have a board lit and no motor 120v outs from your logic pcb, your board is dead (see #3) You’ll need to replace several components on it. In particular look for a bank of 5 resistors on the board, these tend to burn out frequently. Additionally, you should replace C9 (arguably any other as well) electrolytic capacitors and the following components: Q201, Q202. If you have access to a copy of the eeprom, you may want to replace the two-or three eeproms on the board but, there are none in stock anywhere so unless someone has a copy of the eprom’s *which i’ld gladly put up on the page if someone does*.
- If you happen to have the super ancient limited production relay based lax junior, they’re like indestructible, just replace the bad relays and/or sub out with simple modifications for antiquated/out of production mechanical ones.
